How to use Pitlog

A step-by-step walkthrough, from adding your first vehicle to exporting your logbook.

1. Add your vehicle

Start by adding a vehicle: give it a name, pick a type (camper, van, car or motorcycle), and fill in what you know — make, model, year, chassis and engine reference, current mileage, and a photo if you like.

You do not need an account for this. Pitlog works fully offline in local mode; everything stays on your device until you decide to enable cloud sync.

2. Apply a maintenance plan

Open the plan catalogue and pick the one that matches your vehicle. If you drive a Hymer B654 SL on a Ducato 2.3 Multijet chassis with AL-KO running gear and a Truma Combi heater, Pitlog's seeded reference plan already has the manufacturer intervals ready to go.

Applying a plan instantly creates the full task list for that vehicle, each with the correct time and mileage interval. You can also build your own plan from scratch or start from a public template shared by another user.

3. Log a completed service

When a job is done, open the task and add a log entry: the date, the mileage at the time, cost, and any workshop notes. Pitlog recalculates that task's next-due date and mileage automatically and clears any reminder that was pending for it.

Your service history builds itself this way, one entry at a time, without you having to keep a separate spreadsheet.

4. Turn on reminders

Connect your email and, optionally, Telegram from Settings so Pitlog can nudge you before a task falls due — no need to remember to open the app and check. Server-sent reminders and push notifications are available to every account.

5. Track modifications separately

Permanent upgrades — a new suspension, an awning, solar panels, extra electrical wiring — belong in the Mods section rather than the maintenance log. Add a category, a description and photos, and keep your service history focused on routine maintenance.

6. Share access with someone else

If more than one person looks after the vehicle, invite them from the Shares section as a viewer or an editor. They will see the same tasks, plan and history you do.

7. Go fully offline, or sync across devices

Local mode needs no account and keeps every byte on your device. Enabling cloud sync lets the same vehicle follow you to a second phone, a tablet, or the web app, and Pitlog resolves conflicts automatically if you edit the same vehicle from two places before they sync.

8. Export your logbook

From a vehicle page, export a PDF logbook — a cover page, the full maintenance plan, and the complete service history — useful when selling the vehicle or filing an insurance claim. You can also export all of your account data at any time from Privacy settings.
